Virtual Toolbox and Product Finder – KNIPEX App
KNIPEX is a globally renowned manufacturer of high-quality pliers, aimed to capitalize on its strong brand love by providing the right tools for its community.
The app features a product finder, AR to visualize tools, a personal wishlist , and a "Where to Buy” locator for North American users, making it easy to find the right tool, see it in action, save favorites, and purchase.

Impact
The KNIPEX app was rolled out in over 25 countries.
The app achieved an 4.9-star rating in both Google Play and the App Store.
The app supports over 16+ languages.
The Challenge
Knipex is a premium German manufacturer with a highly loyal customer base. However, their extensive product catalog made it difficult for professionals to identify the precise tool for specialized needs.
The Approach
Research showed that KNIPEX is a love-brand, with a strong Community base. Meeting the needs of KNIPEX's diverse markets and integrating the vast catalog of products into an intuitive, comprehensive application presented a multi-disciplinary challenge.
The objective was to combine multiple data sources into one well-rounded app that could be successfully rolled out to all of KNIPEX's markets.
Finding the Right Pliers
To solve for the user needs we created a tool finder - the 'KNIPEXplorer' - that guides users to the perfect pair of pliers in just a few steps.
This feature, tailored to individual needs, transformed a complex selection process into a simplified, engaging user flow. To make the app more personal, we added a wishlist feature. Users can add their favorite tools to a virtual toolbox, enabling them to plan future purchases and keep their collections and favorites in one place.
A New Perspective
To increase buyer confidence, we included an AR feature that allows users to view 3D models of pliers in, helping them to better understand the tool's dimensions and details before purchase.
